Description

Phimosis is the stenosis of the foreskin.

Causes of phimosis are:

Due to scarring in the foreskin because of repeated inflammation of the glans or prepuce ( Balanoposthitis) or because lesions commonly associated with diabetes mellitus ( atrophic lichen , xirotiki valanitis ).

Treatment

The treatment of phimosis is surgical. The surgery performed is known as circumcision and involves removal of the foreskin . The sutures are placed at the intersection is absorbable and need not be removed.
